Arsenic Testing

Description:

In this video, Nicole Grabow, Objects Conservator at the Midwest Art Conservation Center, provides an overview of arsenic use as a pesticide in collections, other potential pesticides, a discussion of personal safety protocols, and step by step instructions to sample materials for arsenic testing. The video includes a demonstration of a chemical spot test to identify arsenic, how to set up testing procedures in your own facility, and how to send samples away for testing. Handling and labeling of suspected or arsenic-identified materials is emphasized. This session was part of the 2017 ATALM annual conference held in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, on October 10-12, 2017.
